iOS 14 is coming out in 2020. It will have a lot of changes, such as a dark mode and a new design. There are also rumors that there will be a new way to use your iPhone called Sidecar. This will allow you to use your iPhone as a second screen for your Mac.
iOS 14 has been one of the biggest iOS updates to date. It introduced Home screen design changes, major new features, and updates for existing apps. One of the most visible changes in iOS 14 is the redesigned Home screen. The Home screen now looks more like the iPad’s Home screen, with a sidebar that contains your favorite apps and a dock at the bottom. Another major change in iOS 14 is the addition of Dark Mode. Dark Mode turns all white backgrounds in apps black, making it easier on your eyes in low-light environments. Other new features in iOS 14 include Audio Sharing, which lets you share audio from one device with another; QuickPath, a Swype-like keyboard that makes typing faster and easier; and updates to Photos, Maps, and Safari.
iOS 14 is coming out soon and with it comes a redesigned Home Screen that includes support for widgets for the first time. The new Home Screen has been completely redesigned with a focus on ease of use and faster access to apps and widgets. Widgets will be placed in a new widget area at the top of the screen, making them much more accessible. In addition, the App Switcher has been redesigned to make it easier to switch between apps.
iOS 14’s new “Smart Stack” feature uses on-device intelligence to surface the right widget based on time, location, and activity. For example, if you’re at work, the Smart Stack might show you your calendar and email widgets, while at home it might show you the weather widget. The feature is designed to make it easier for users to access the information they need without having to search through a cluttered home screen. iOS 14 gives users the ability to customize their Home screen pages with widgets specifically for work, travel, sports, and more. This means that each page can be tailored to the user’s needs and interests, making it easy to access the information they need most. For example, the work page can include a calendar widget and the travel page can include a map widget. The sports page can include a scoreboard widget and the news page can include a headlines widget.
Expending extra time on the App Library webpage on an iPhone can give you access to a convenient way to see all the apps on your iPhone in one convenient place. Apps are organized in your folder system, although there are also suggestions created by Apple and Apple Arcade that automatically surface apps to assist you in making selections. New app downloads can be added to your Home Screen or kept in the App Library to keep your Home Screen clean.
New space-saving measures mean Siri’s outgoing message and incoming phone call banners no longer take over the entire screen. When activating Siri, the SMS icon and other Siri-associated icons only appear as small animated icons at the bottom of the screen.
With a Picture configuration, users can watch videos or take part in FaceTime discussions while carrying on with other tasks, utilizing FaceTime, or even just a video playing in a little window that can be resized and moved around the iPhone’s display.
Siri has greater intelligence in iOS 14 and is able to answer a wider array of more complicated questions with information sourced from the internet, and also Siri can send messages by sending audio recordings. Dictation with keyboard shortcuts is accomplished on the tool, which provides an extra layer of privacy for messages dictated.
Apple integrated App Clips into iOS 14, allowing users to take advantage of some app features without downloading the full app. App Clips allows users to do things like rent a scooter, purchase a coffee, make a restaurant reservation, or pay a parking meter by simply scanning a code, without needing to download the entire app.
Apple bills App Clips as a single component of an overall app experience contained within the moment of demand for that particular component. App Clips work by Apple-coded App Clip codes, NFC tags, or QR codes, and can be included in Messages or retrieved from Safari.
Related to the Messages app, Apple now permits users to pin a message by swiping left on any chat. Additional features known as inline replies make it possible to respond directly to a message within a chat, which is particularly valuable in groups.
For group chats, Apple added an @mention feature, meaning a group chat can be muted but sends a notification when a user’s name is mentioned. Group chat photos can be customized with an emoji or an image, and the indicators for each person at the beginning of dialogue make it obvious who was the last speaking.
New Memoji now has additional hairstyles, headwear, face coverings, and ages, as well as some assorted new stickers for hugging, punching, and blushing. Memoji has evolved to be considerably more expressive thanks to redesigned facial and muscular architecture. WatchOS 7 and iOS 14 allow parents to manage children’s Apple Watches using Family Setup, allowing children to use an Apple Watch without needing an iPhone.
For the Health app, Apple has made the Sleep Tracking feature available on the Apple Watch, plus the addition of a Health Checklist for assessing the health and safety features of the Apple Watch (Emergency SOS, Medical ID, Fall Detection, and ECG) and health suggestions to help manage to hear.
The information displayed in the Weather app comes from Apple’s Dark Sky acquisition, including the minute-by-minute weather readings when a thunderstorm is a forecast, the rainfall prediction for the next several hours, and next-hour precipitation forecasts with hourly forecasts in the Weather app.
Cycle directions for cycle commuters and cyclists appear in the Apple Maps application, taking into account elevation, how busy a street is, and whether there are stairs during the route. In addition to that, if you currently own an electric vehicle, bicycle options can be customized based on the specific make and model of your vehicle and the charger you currently have.
Digital car keys allow users to lock or start vehicles with an iPhone or an Apple Watch, and by 2021, the U1 chip will enable motorists to open cars with the help of a fob or smartwatch without taking the phone out of their pocket or bag. New car keys can be shared via Facebook messages and disabled using iCloud in case a mobile phone is misplaced.
CarPlay allows users to set wallpaper images and supports the addition of new experiences for automatically parked cars, electric vehicle charging, and quick food drive-thru.
The home app receives better automation and Control Center quick-access buttons, plus an Adaptive Lighting feature that lets HomeKit lights adjust their color temperature throughout the day. On-device Face Recognition lets cameras and video doorbells tell users exactly who is at the door, and HomeKit Secure Video cameras support Activity Zones for the first time.
The Apple Translate app, which is based on machine-learning technology, provides translation for text, speech, and images to and from 11 languages. A new “On-Device” setting can be found in the Translate app, allowing language files to be downloaded for on-device translation only. A “Conversation” mode speaks translations aloud to facilitate communication between users who speak different languages.
In supported languages include Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Devices on a local network must be protected using updated privacy settings, and developers now have the option to provide apps with only approximate location data or to limit access to select photos. All apps must use the default settings for getting user permissions before tracking them across different websites.
In the App Store, Apple is a great place to obtain easy access to summaries of developers’ self-reported privacy practices. Apple is additionally developing a new function that allows users to sign in with their existing registration information in the practice’s Safari browser.
This feature lets users know if a saved password has been involved in a data breach, and also alerts users in the event that a website’s language setting is changed while browsing on Safari.
iOS 14 automatically switches to other devices using automatic device switching for AirPods, and for AirPods Pro, there are new spatial audio features for surround sound using head-tracking automatic movement. With iOS 14, AirPods immediately notify users when the battery life is fading.
Find My in iOS 14 now includes support for third-party accessories as well as items. Tile trackers are not yet supported in Find My on iOS 14.
iOS 14 is compatible with the iPhone 6s and later, meaning it supports all devices able to run iOS 13, and it is available for download as of September 16, 2020.
How to Download and Install iOS 14
- Apple has just released the newest update to their iOS operating system- iOS 14! This new update comes with many new features and improvements, so here’s how to download and install it on your device.
- The first thing you’ll need to do is make sure that your device is compatible with iOS 14. You can check this by going to Settings > General > Software Update. If your device is not compatible, you’ll need to upgrade to a newer model in order to use iOS 14.
- Once you’ve verified that your device is compatible, you can proceed to download the update. To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap “Download and Install.”
- The download will take a while, so be patient! Once it’s done, you’ll be prompted to install the update.
Home Screen Redesign
The iOS 14 update allows for a much greater level of iPad customization, thanks to the addition of widgets that can be added to the page, the brand-new capability of hiding a whole section of apps, and the formerly introduced app store.
On the iPhone’s display, users may swipe left when it displays Today for the Today Center to contain any new information. Navigation through all default apps is now much easier, thanks to completely redesigned widgets. There are new widgets for Screen Time and Apple News, and they have been updated for improved functionality.
The Today view and on the Home Screen each offer widgets of varying density, ranging from small to large sizes. Some Today widgets are small, showing only a single story, while larger widgets show three.
A few widgets can be stacked up to 10 higher when compared side by side and in both the Today view and the Home Screen. You can use a swipe to swap between stacked widgets when many are present at once. There’s maximum utility as well as minimal space taken up by this feature.
Widget Smart Stack
There is an additional smart Stack feature that’s unique from widget stacking. Created in the Widget Gallery screen, a more smart Stack is a widget stack that automatically profiles the very best widget option depending on the time, location, and nature of your activity. It is very similar in function to widget stacking, but your iPhone automatically handles the swipe for you.
Siri Suggestions Widget
While the Smart Stack is in use, there is an on-device widget that calls upon your activity on the iPhone to reveal search queries and suggested activities that may interest you based on your patterns. If you always listen to a podcast on the commute to work, you may see the Podcasts widget whenever you have a spare moment to consume content.
If you select the Starbucks widget at 4:00 pm once in a while to order a day beverage every day, the Starbucks widget may appear right around that time. Siri’s voice-enabled command functions without needing to open the Starbucks app.
Customized Home Screen Icons
iPhone users have discovered that, with the Shortcuts app, web app icons in their Home Screens can be replaced with customized icons. In creating shortcuts, you can create a shortcut that replaces the standard app icon, and you can choose a drawing to use as the app icon.
The App Library function provides you with a calm list of all of your apps, making it simpler than ever to find them.
Depending on your device, swipe right from the left to the screen to get past your Home Screen pages to the App Library overview, where each of the apps you have installed will be arranged in a convenient folder system in alphabetical order. In addition to Apple Arcade, you’ll also find a dedicated folder there.
Each folder shows the pertinent applications in the category that you most often use, and you can click on one of them with a single tap. Another area on the website is dedicated to mini app icons, and if you tap on that area, you can check out the entire list of applications in this category.
So, as an example, if you have a number of videos, you will see the three you play the most next to a multi-application icon you can tap to open the directory with the games you’ve downloaded. Swipe gestures give you the ability to see the programs and application folders.
Suggestions and Recently Added Folders
So, say you have multiple games installed on your phone, you’ll see the three play most often accompanying a multi-app icon. Swipe gestures let you browse through apps and the category folders.
Another folder, “Recently Added,” contains programs you recently added to the iPhone, as its name indicates. It also features App Clips, enabling you to find such programs more easily.
App Library Search
You can look up an alphabetical list of all the applications you have installed by tapping a letter on the search bar at the top of the App Library and scrolling. Tap the section you wish to access to find the app by name.
Hide Home Screen Pages and Apps
In iOS 14, you can easily hide home screens in your iPhone, keeping your screen clutter-free. You are able to view apps through the App Library when you prevent the display of these pages.
To hide Home Screen pages, long-press on the Home Screen to make the icons wiggle, and then tap on the dots, which represent the Home Screen pages you have set up. From there, you can uncheck the pages you no longer want to see.
If you want to conceal individual apps, you can group them in the App Library and place them out of the Home Screen.
In the Settings app’s App Library Usage section, you can also call up an option that prevents new app downloads from appearing in your Home Screen. For a more thorough review of the capabilities of your Home Screen, widgets, and the App Library, be certain to read through our iOS 14 design guide, which runs through all of the new changes introduced in the iOS 14 app.
Compact Phone Calls
When receiving calls in iOS 14, incoming phone calls will appear not across the entire screen, but as a small banner at the top of the screen that you can swipe up to remove or swipe down to see more phone call options and answer the call. You can also tap on the accept and reject buttons to accept or decline a call by placing your hand on the banner.
You will still see the basic phone call interface when your iPhone is locked, but locked calls are less irritating than unlocked phone conversations. This also applies to FaceTime calls and calls made with third-party VoIP apps.
Picture in Picture
The Picture in Picture feature on the iPad expanded to the iPhone in iOS 14, and you can now use FaceTime while engaged elsewhere.
The windowed video or call designed to FaceTime or Skype a friend appears in a box-shaped location in the bottom right corner of the Apple iPhone screen. You can customize the size of the picture by moving it up or down.
Siri and Search Updates
Siri’s interface was redesigned with iOS 14, and now activating the voice assistant either through physical buttons or voice commands no longer cause the entire iOS device display to be displayed with a noise wave design.
Siri will initiate Pathway A instead of Pathway B when activated. Some of the answers that Siri offers also pop up in banners that appear above the iPhone’s screen, therefore interrupting other activities.
Siri now has the ability to more efficiently answer a variety of queries, so some formerly complex requests may now get offline answers to them via Siri.
iOS 14’s Siri can display a text message on both the mobile device and on CarPlay, allowing for Apple Maps ETRs to be sent. Siri is also able to provide cycling directions for the new cycling feature in iOS 14.
Siri now understands greater than 65 language pairs other than English and Japanese, such as words, phrases, and sentences in Norwegian and some Spanish dialects. Siri provides more natural-sounding voices for English (Australia, India, Ireland, South Africa, and the UK), French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese.
You can save time in “Search in Apps,” which is simpler to use. Apple has updated the feature that lets you execute a search within pertinent apps, such as Messages, Mail, and Files, with a tap.
Apple’s iOS 14 search engine was created to be a single destination for iOS users to discover and initiate apps, contacts, and files, access quick details like the weather and maps and get answers to typical questions. Search can also be used to launch a web search.
The most relevant search results for a given query typically appear at the top when you type in a query, and the suggestions provided begin to provide search results as you type, making it easy to find what you’re looking for before a series of words is completed.
If you type in the name of an app into the search window, you can choose to open the application without having to close the window.
Third-Party Default Apps
iOS, for the most part, is the only OS that allows third-party mail and web browsing applications to serve as the default behavior. This time since the introduction of iOS, third-party apps and email clients such as Spark, Edison, and many others can be installed by default instead of the browser or Mail.
Some of the tools of the Messages app for iOS 14 enhance the quality of group conversations. Among the enhancements are photo stickers, Memoji, and Animoji, as well as new capabilities for reducing the amount of scrolling required for group members and facilitating easier readability.
The Messages app’s Filters tab now allows you to choose between seeing All Messages in a feed, all Messages from Known Senders, or all messages from Unknown Senders, making it easier to distinguish personal messages from automated services created by friends. To get to the tab, tap Filters in the main Messages conversation list.
Important conversations can be pinned at the top of the Messages application by swiping to the right to keep them available. Up to nine conversations can be pinned to your Messages app in this way.
Creating a chat creates a small circle icon at the top of the application containing the photo of the participant, recent texts, Tapbacks, and a display listing keyboard markings. You can also see a neat little feature that shows texting markings lined up with the voices of people using Memoji or photos of a person.
With in-line replies, you can quickly reply to a specific message in a conversation, which is especially useful in a group conversation since it makes different chat threads simpler to manage.
You can also direct a message to a person in a group of chat to get their attention by means of the @mention function. If you have an active group chat muted, when a person sends a mention, you’ll get a notification.
In the iOS 14 release, you can check to see if someone is attempting to type in a text message in the main message thread.
Memoji has new hairstyles, headwear, and age options, as well as masks and new stickers for hugs, fist bumps, and blush.
Apple states that Memoji have also been enhanced with revamped facial and body structure needed for Memoji and Memoji stickers to be more expressive.
It still has the maps it’s famous for, but it can be particularly useful if you have an electric vehicle or enjoy cycling.
Apple’s detailed cartography aimed at cars is coming to Canada, the United States, the UK and Ireland in 2020. The newest cartography includes more detailed roads, buildings, parks, marinas, beaches, airports, and more.
In cities known for crowded roads, maps now provide details of congested traffic zone tolls and alternate routes to avoid them.
Apple’s Maps app in the iOS 14 operating system provides routing recommendations for cyclists, including data on bike lanes, bike paths, and bike-friendly roads. Routes feature elevation, how busy a road is, and options for cycling up or down steep or hilly terrain.
If you possess an electric vehicle, then you can get route directions such as stop and arrival times that require charging as well as current battery levels and charging options for the maps app on your iPhone. When an electric vehicle is added to an iOS unit, Maps can continuously track your charge and the type of charger and provide the quickest route to your vehicle.
Apple has renamed the iOS Thirteen “Carousel” lists feature to “Guides” in iOS Fourteen. On Maps, you can create your own Guides, but Apple is also partnering with leading brands to provide specialized guides to help users discover new places to eat, shop, and visit.
In iOS 13, Apple added language translation features to Siri, enabling users to ask Siri to translate phrases and words into multiple languages. In iOS 14, this functionality has now become a downloadable app that’s only available for download from the iPhone.
The Translate app supports Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
You can choose from a number of languages to translate between at the top of the app, and it supports either voice or text entry. Translated content can be spoken aloud for pronunciation purposes, and there’s an integrated dictionary feature if you do know the meaning of a translated word.
The iPhone converts the display to landscape and lets the Translate app work as a conversation mode to translate whichever of the two languages was previously spoken. This lets you create a rapport with someone speaking a different language and quickly converse.
An Attention Mode that enlarges translated text for easier reading is also available, useful if you need to show a translated phrase to a person. Translate was created with privacy in mind, and languages can be downloaded. Downloading a language enables all translations to be done directly on the device, without needing an Internet connection.
HomeKit and the Home app on iOS devices offer many useful features to those who are invested in the Apple home automation platform.
Suggested Automations, a new smart function, presents recommended automation that you might want to build, while a new visual status bar at the top of the Home tab shows recent accessories that need attention or have status changes.
The Control Center widget for the Home app has been improved and now discovers and suggests scenes and objects depending on your habits. Tapping the icon also opens a complete list of your previously selected scenes and controls.
For the smart lights in your home, there is an adaptive lighting feature that’s essentially Night Shift for your lights. Light bulbs that can change color can be customized throughout the day based on your personal preferences, and relevant color and temperature settings can be altered depending on what you are going to do. During the day, cool tones might be preferable, while during the evening, warmer tones with little blue light have a better effect.
Apple is integrating activity zones and face recognition into HomeKit Secure Video-compatible cameras and doorbells that recognize faces pulled from the Photos app, so you’ll know if someone approaching your home is someone you know.
New Safari Features
Safari runs twice as fast as Chrome on both Android and iOS. Apple now features a built-in translation service that makes it easy to translate web pages to English, Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Russian, or Brazilian Portuguese.
A new password monitoring feature checks passwords saved to iCloud Keychain and notifies you of data breaches after every login. If Safari encounters a breach, you’re notified and prompted to generate a new password.
Developers have a new API that provides a tool for translating present web accounts to Sign in with Apple, which supplies an extra layer of security, and there’re new Website Privacy Reports.
Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention feature alerts you to tracking cookies and other cross-site trackers on your website. The Website Privacy Report button shows you all of the trackers on a site that Safari has blocked.
The functions of Apple’s Health application of watchOS 7 help sleep tracking. They have also been designed to help recipients without Apple Watches, with the addition of customizable sleep schedules that can generate countdown timers based on individual time constraints.
Do Not Disturb mode is toggled through Sleep Mode so you won’t be disturbed at night. The device’s display will be dulled and its screen will be blank. Any Wind Down actions you’ve set up will be highlighted on the display as well. Access to Sleep Mode can be made in Control Center, but it will be automatically enabled or disabled based on your sleep schedule.
Wind Down allows you to schedule break time to assist you in bed. Select different calming actions that prepare you for sleep, including turning off the lights, launching a meditation app, or using a wind-down feature. Wind Down lets you choose Sleep mode. The new sleep tracking feature included in watchOS 7 is also available in the new Health app, which aggregates sleep data.
The Health app includes new features for health records, mobility, symptoms, and ECG data, as well as a built-in Health Checkup List that helps you manage your checked health and safety functions such as Fall Detection, Symptom Notification, Emergency SOS Settings, Heart Rate Notification Details, and more.
Find My did not change a single aspect of its design in the iOS 14 release, but Apple quietly released a new Find My Network Accessory Program that allows third-party accessories to work with the Find My app. All Find My requirements for tracking or lost items on a device through Find Me have been met.
Apple introduced watchOS 7, which works with iOS 14, with a new Family Setup feature that enables kids and elderly adults who are not iPhones to use the Apple Watch through a parent who has as a professional manager. Family Setup enables an Apple Watch to be set up through a parent’s iPhone, allowing kids to use an Apple Watch without an iPhone and with parental supervision.
Kids can use the full range of the capabilities of the Apple Watch, maintaining contact with their parents through phone calls and messages, making use of features, including Emergency SOS, Maps, Apple Music, and Siri access; they can also download apps from the App Store, create Memoji on the wrist, and complete Activity goals, with “active calories” replaced by move minutes.
The Activity app on the Apple Watch has been improved to tune the Outdoor Walk, Outdoor Run, and Outdoor Cycle workouts for children, and kids can receive motivation with emoji notifications tailored to their reading level. Kids are able to send and receive Activity Sharing invitations and compete with friends in Activity Competitions.
Children or adults must have an LTE-enabled Apple Watch along with their own phone number through cellular service, and each child gets their own Apple ID for interacting with Calendar, organizing Reminders, viewing images from a guardian’s iPhone, making purchases using the new Apple Cash feature on the iOS, and much more.
The Apple Cash Family feature lets parents let kids buy products on their watch using Apple Pay with parents being able to watch them. Parents can track billing cycles so that kids aren’t stolen by other individuals.
The Family Setup function of the Health app in iOS allows parents to add medical information to the emergency contacts list, according to Medical ID. People older than sixty can also use this function to disable fall detection so that they can continue to age independently.
To help deter competition of the Apple Watch between a babysitter and a kid, there is a Schooltime mode that activates the Do Not Disturb option, limits access to Apple Watch features, and prevents distractions through Screen Time. The Downtime option of Screen Time is transferred to the Apple Watch as well.
NFC-based Car Key is designed to let you unlock your vehicle by tapping an iPhone or an Apple Watch against a door handle. Car Key can be configured to lock your vehicle, and then you can start it when the smartphone is put near an NFC reader or charger located remotely within your vehicle.
Your digital key is stored in the Wallet application, and there are features such as an option to share a digital key with an acquaintance or a relative through the Messages app. There are various types of keys that can be restricted at various levels.
Apple suggests that parents limit acceleration, top speed, traction control, and stereo volume limitations for peace of mind.
Unlike CarPlay’s Car Keys feature, which needs to be implemented by automotive manufacturers because it’s the engine that’s required for NFC and wants to work, Apple heralded BMW’s 5 Series as the first car to support Car Keys, but it’s going to be available in recent graduates of BMW models.
AirPods Feature Additions
With the release of iOS 14, the AirPods and the AirPods Pro are better than ever thanks to the additional software-based enhancements Apple has added. AirPods and AirPods Pro will automatically switch between the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch when using any device, for a more streamlined audio switching experience.
AirPods connected to your iPhone now produce a notification to let you know if the battery is getting low so you can charge them up before you need them, and Apple also implemented Battery Optimization to experience longer battery life.
Optimized Battery Charging will refrain from charging your AirPods until the charge is needed. keep in mind that, for example, if you charge your AirPods at night, they may charge roughly 80 percent and leave at approximately full for one hour before you wake up.
HomePod 14.2 and iOS 14.2 each have the Intercom feature, which turns HomePod, HomePod mini, and other accessories into intercoms that can be used throughout the entire household.
Intercom lets relatives communicate with one another at home by sending and receiving voice messages through HomePod speakers or iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods, and CarPlay. Intercom is activated by specifying “Hey Siri, Intercom,” followed by a piece of sound. It can even be used when folks are away from home.
You can choose specific HomePods or devices in the home to send a message to everyone in the household or send a reply to an Intercom message sent by someone else. On devices like iPhones and iPad, Intercom messages are shown as notifications with the option to listen to an audio message.
App Clips, released in iOS 14, enable you to use a section of an app instantly without having to download the full app.
As an example, if you would like to make a quick reservation at a café through an application like Yelp, you may be able to use the Yelp App Clip to do it without the inconvenience of installing the Yelp app. An App Clip can be installed in just a few seconds after scanning a QR code, an NFC tag, or an Apple-designed App Clip code, and it’s usable right away. An App Clip is not a standard.
Businesses can create App Clip NFC tags, dossier QR codes, links, place cards in Maps, Messages, links, and more. App Clip access is easy depending on the user’s preferences. A QR code can be scanned, an NFC chip can be tapped, an iMessage link can be tapped, and other choices can be chosen.
After you have used an App Clip, you can read the whole content of an app by taping it, secure in the knowledge that you won’t lose the payment or have trouble linking your iCloud account. App Clips are compatible with Apple Pay and can be used to purchase products or sign in with Apple once you set up an account.
Apple ensures that its customers have better privacy protections with every iteration of its iOS operating system, and with iOS 14, it continues in that trend, making it clearer which information apps collect and requiring the user to acknowledge data collection by apps, setting limitations on location information that can be used, and eliminating location features, allowing users to use geofencing.
App Store Privacy
Apple added a dedicated section on every product page for applications on the Apple Store, where you can now quickly review official privacy standards for each app. Developers are required to self-report their privacy policies, which include data collected by the developer and used to track suspects. Apple likened this feature to a “nutrition label” for the App Store.
One indication that iOS 14 has identified an app or widget that is accessing text that has been copied to the clipboard is that a notification appears.
App Tracking Transparency
Developers need to be granted permission before sending you information about your usage of the app so you can choose which ones have permission to track you. You can refuse to have apps track you at all and not be tracked by enabling the “Allow Apps to Request to Track You” setting in the Privacy section of the Settings.
This change requires developers’ adherence not only to your wishes for blocking tracking by random identifier but also to the policies Apple has for avoiding data-gathering of non-Apple-approved tools.
